ACTION ALERT: Urge Your Leaders in Congress to Protect Funding for HIV Research!
For media inquiries, please contact Michael Chancley, Communications and Mobilization Manager at [email protected].
The Save HIV Funding Campaign has launched an Action Alert allowing supporters like you to send letters to urge Congress to protect and secure HIV research funding. This is in response to reports from the New York Times that funding for four HIV trial networks supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are highly at risk, as well as Washington Post coverage of White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) plans to interfere with and delay funding for all sorts of NIH research including HIV treatment and prevention. Advocates, researchers, and community members have already sent over 1,100 letters to Congress– SEND YOUR OWN LETTERS NOW!
The Save HIV Funding Campaign would also like to thank the 138 organizations who signed onto the Imminent Threats to HIV Research: Organizational Sign-On Letter to Congress. Reducing or losing funding for HIV research would result in trial participants being removed from trials before studies are completed and disrupt or eliminate highly sophisticated trial networks that have developed groundbreaking discoveries for HIV as well as other diseases, including cancer and COVID.
You can let your voice be heard by taking just two minutes to send letters to your leaders in Congress. Let your Representative and two Senators know that meddling in research funding will cost lives and increase new HIV cases.
